Dear Friends,
I'm thrilled to share the results of our second annual For The Children Feedback Survey with you. This year, we reached out to volunteers, pastors, social workers, and foster parents across the United States to ask a simple but profound question: "Do you believe Royal Family KIDS Camp and/or Mentoring programs create life-changing moments for children?"
The response was overwhelming. Of the 475 people who participated in our survey, 99% answered with a resounding "yes." This incredible affirmation reminds us why we do what we do—and it's all thanks to faithful partners like you who make these life-changing moments possible.
But we didn't stop there. We wanted to understand exactly which aspects of our programs are making the biggest difference in children's lives. Here's what we discovered.
Connecting with Positive Role Models (96%)
We know from research that the best predictor of positive outcomes for children who have experienced trauma is the presence of safe, reliable, caring adults in their lives. Royal Family KIDS Camp and Mentoring programs are uniquely designed to connect children to these positive role models—adults who show up consistently, demonstrate genuine care, and model healthy relationships.
Savanna from St. Clairsville, Ohio, captured this beautifully: "We love Royal Family, from the positive role models to making memories learning about God, meeting great friends, and having a fun, safe, structured experience!" When children see adults who are dependable, kind, and invested in their wellbeing, it changes their understanding of what's possible in relationships and in life.
Having a Place to Just Be a Kid, to Feel Special and Understood (95%)
Many times, children in foster care don't have the opportunities that other children have because of their life circumstances or special needs. That's why our programs maintain a higher ratio of adults to children—so that every child receives the specialized attention they need and deserve.
Sarah, a foster parent in Plymouth, Michigan, shared: "Royal Family KIDS Camp adds in the needed staff and supports to make it possible for our kids with complex needs to have the camp experience with loving, caring mentors and supports." Christine in San Jose, California, put it simply: "I love the lower ratios of leaders to campers and the kids love all the attention!"
This intentional design allows children to experience something many of them rarely feel—the freedom to simply be kids, to laugh, to play, and to know they matter.
Learning About God (88%)
At Royal Family KIDS Camp and Mentoring, children learn a truth that can transform their entire lives: God made them, loves them, and has good plans for their future. This message of unconditional love is especially powerful for children who have experienced rejection, abandonment, or abuse.
Aaron, a foster dad in Tampa, Florida, expressed it this way: "I have had dozens of foster kids come through our home, and I know some of the trauma and terrible memories that the kids carry with them. It is great that there is an organization that is helping them replace some of those terrible memories with good ones. It is also great to see an organization that is pointing the kids to a God that loves them unconditionally, despite their circumstances, and through the good times and the bad."
As I reflect on these survey results, I'm filled with gratitude—for the volunteers who give their time and hearts, for the donors who make our programs financially possible, for the pastors who champion this ministry in their communities, and for the caregivers and social workers who trust us with the precious children in their care.
Together, we are creating life-changing moments. Together, we are offering hope, healing, and the transformative love of Christ to children who need it most.
Thank you for being part of this mission. The 99% who said "yes" includes children whose lives will never be the same because of your faithfulness.
With deep gratitude,
Wendy McMahan
