To our Loyal Supporters,
The For The Children Board of Directors are pleased to announce Wendy McMahan as our new president.
Following a months-long search — which yielded several very qualified candidates —Wendy emerged as the clear choice for our organization’s next chapter of growth.
Read a note from Wendy below:
“For over 30 years, For The Children has served children impacted by relational trauma. I am humbled to know that our Royal Family KIDS Camps and Mentoring Programs serve thousands of children every year through church partners in 45 states and 8 countries. And this is just the beginning!
Our camps and mentoring programs are time-tested models that bring life-change to children in foster care. My vision is to continue supporting our chapters to help them serve the children in their communities.
I look forward to meeting the chapter directors, pastors, volunteers and supporters who make camp and mentoring possible. They will have boots-on-the-ground ideas to share. I want to hear what works, and how we can help them grow their ministries.
As we look to the future, there is great opportunity to continue expanding our work to more churches and more children! We celebrate that our chapters' ministries serve more than 8,000 children every year. At the same time, we know that many more thousands of children in foster care across our country will pass this summer without the opportunity to experience camp.
What if every child in foster care had the opportunity to go to camp? We will be asking our partners to help us identify like-minded churches to sign on as our next new For The Children chapters!
More than any other plans or goals, my leadership is built on the love of Jesus. He is our first love, the One who gave Himself for each of us. And it's our privilege to give our lives back to Him! We believe that each volunteer who serves at camp or in club is serving Jesus Himself. (Matthew 25:40) Likewise, our For The Children staff team is drawn to our work out of love for Him. And I know that our supporters give generously as unto the Lord. I am committed to continuously renewing our focus on Jesus as we move ahead with the vision He has given.”
As you’ll soon see for yourself, Wendy is a passionate leader with an accomplished career serving children with prominent non-profit organizations like Olive Crest and Food for the Hungry.
In addition to her impressive career experience, Wendy and her husband Tim have dedicated their personal lives to serving children in need. Together, they’ve been loving foster parents to over a dozen children over the years — experience which will equip her to be a leader in our work together serving children of abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
We are thrilled to invite you to join us in welcoming Wendy into the FTC family!
